HI all.

I got a email today from someone and there chinese i think. I thought here we go a scam email...

Thing is.

It has my full name and address. With a doc file attatched saying my second name and some word/numbers and the email said its password.

Im worried something has hacked something but no idea from what.

Im starting to panic a bit, what should i do.

The only thing i can think of is when this mobile phone service when bankrupt as it was in the uk a few years ago where you got free minuites if u just let a few adverts come up.

I had a few emails about the bankruptcy but pretty sure the emails were very clear who they were from and what it was about. This doesnt seem like it.

Its basically this format.
Good day to you,

Contract:
Name:
Address:
City:
State:
Zip:

Filename: .doc
Password:

Regards,
Sender's name.

Their email ends with @sohu.com. Looked it up and not much about it other than its a chinese company.

Do not open the attachment whatever you do it tries to deploy a variant of crypto malware.

There has been a data breach somewhere - detailed IIRC in a recent thread here and the data dump is being used to try and scare people into infecting themselves with malware.

Had one of these today myself. Would be interested in finding out what data breach leaked my details though, as I'm very careful online and only ever use a fake name unless it's for something important that actually requires my real name and address.

Glad someone posted this as I had the very same today. Thing is I attempted to open it on my phone (I was expecting something from someone) but got an error (no MS doc viewer), am I safe? :o
