Could I get away with this legally?

In August I am planning to travel up north via train to go camping. Now I have to take a small camping stove with me. However, I don't know if you would legally be allowed to take a small gas cannister onto a train like that. I wouldn't be suprised if it came under terrorism laws or something. Would anyone here know or point me in the right direction? It's not something I've been able to dig up anywhere else.

Well their website states:

"We kindly request that you do not bring the following items within your luggage:

* Any weapons
* Drugs or solvents (other than medicines)
* Live or dead animals
* Fish or insects
* Battery powered wheelchairs/disabled scooters, unless they are pre-booked
* Prams
* Non folding pushchairs
* Non folding bicycles

Any other items considered unsuitable for carriage by reason of their weight, size, shape or character."

It's rather vague, and I'm sure a telephone money would probably just read that list straight back to me. Also, it's not just wether it's against the train companies rules, but also the actual law in general. I got randomly stopped and searched last time I was at an inter-city train station and would rather not be wandering around with gas in my bag if I don't know about its legality. I've sent them an email anyway.

A lot of people use these boards that have a wealth of information. There may be a chance one or two of them may know.

If you've got all the other gear on you, and it looks obvious you're going camping, then even if they do stop you and search you - they'll just ignore it.

Why the paranoia?

Who randomly wants to take a fish with them on the train :confused:

Secondly, who stops the flies, ants, etc etc getting on the train themselves? :confused:

Probably because individuals don't think in enough depth, and presume live animals means only things like dogs and cats etc.

Fish and insects you can hide fairly well.
