My specs:

CPU: i5 3570k @3.40GHz

Motherboard: Asus p8z77-v LX

GPU: gtx 660

PSU: FSP Premium Grade 500W PSU

So can my specs run a gtx 970?

thanks in advance ;)

I've gone for the Gigabyte G1, it's factory OCd, do you not want an OCd one?

Also, noticed you're running your 3570k at stock speed, do you ever OC it?

The 660 need 24A on the 12v rail, a 970 needs 28A so I can hear you ask youself, do I have an extra 4A on my PSU's 12v rail..?

Can you find a link to your PSU anywhere on the net? Or could you take a photo of your PSU? (the side that has the PSU's infomation on it.)

and no i don't OC it... should I?

I would say yes, K series CPUs are designed for OCing. Don't do it with the OEM Intel fan/cooler though.

Someone else here should be able to advise on your PSU for OCing.

if you get us the model number from the sticker on the side of the PSU that would be better help as that link does not have any specs on it

My googleFu is weak today, thanks but I still can't find this PSU's specs online anywhere.

Just need to know if it has a single 12v rail or multiple rails... and the corresponding max Amps that they can take.

Need to read the info on the actual PSU mate.

But that one has two 12v rails, one at 19A and one at 18A!

So I doubt it is that one! The OCP (over current protection) would be kicking in with your current card.

When you get home just have a look.... it is pretty easy to tell. Thinking about it now, your one probably does have only one rail with enough amps on it... if a dual rail 12v 500w is around 19/18A on each rail.

But, it is best to be totally sure and have a look on your actualy psu.

:)
