Could I still have been scammed?

Hi,

I've been selling some instruments on Reverb, all without a hitch so far. Selling my last instrument, someone clicked buy then got in touch asking to hear it in a video. I did this, sent it, they asked for more then said they didn't want to buy it and cancelled the order. I had to send the video via email and weirdly 2 people replied on different addresses.

That instrument sold to someone else no worries. Then last week I put another up for sale. The same person clicked BUY and actually paid. I organised the courier, but for some reason it felt weird...

I got in touch and asked for some kind of social media link to check they're a real person. I was sent 2 F'book links to him and his Dad. Both profiles hadn't had anything posted recently and I couldn't see how they were father/son due to ages.

The money came through Reverb and into my account so I've got it. So far so good, but I'd still not sent the instrument.

I was about to send it today but just felt weird still, so cancelled the order and refunded. The buyer hasn't been in touch at all, which seems odd. If I had an order like this cancelled I'd be "WTF?"

Is there a way this guy could be scamming me? or at least scamming the courier/or Reverb for a refund?

I'd been paid, but could they claim the instrument is lost or something?

Maybe I was reading too much into things, but you know that nagging feeling that something isn't right? it was that all over. I guess if it feels like a scam, it's a scam. Just trying to figure out how and can I protect myself next time

Thanks
