Could I USB this fan?

Want to add some fans around my AV receiver as its hot, notice you can pull the fan cable apart and attach to a USB cable, but remember there where some Volt limits that it wouldnt work with

I am looking a the Yate Loon 220mm Fan Blue LED

Would it work ok ?
Technical data:
Dimensions: 220x220x30mm
Supply voltage: 12V
Speed: 600 r / min
Flow at 12V: about 147 m³ / h, 31 (dBA)
With 3-pin Molex connector 60cm cable

USB only provides 5v so whether the fan would actually turn at that voltage is hard to say. My guess is that it wouldn't.

Stepping up the voltage to 12v would be possible but you'd lose current and that's assuming you could get the USB port to supply the full 500mA current.

Enermax U.R. Vegas fan is probably what you need. USB, 5v and 400mA it looks like from the specs.

You can get small PSU units with a single molex connector. They'd be suitable for running a couple of fans.

Not sure whether I can link but have a look on a certain auction site.

yep, but if you stepped it up to 12v, you wouldnt loose as much current so it might power a better fan
