I've had a look at it doesn't seem possible but some peoples knowledge on here is mind blowing. I was wondering could I fit something like....

I know it would be easy just to buy a powermac g4 but I want to fit a windows based system inside the case

Thanks for any of your thoughts!
if u just want to run windows then why don't you dual boot a powermac?

Because a PowerMac won't run Windows outside of Virtual PC, and even then it's painfully slow.

You might be able to get a MicroATX board to fit in, but you'd pretty much have to rebuild the case from scratch, have you looked at the photos of the back panel?

If your a competent modder, its possible if not, no theres no easy way :/ as you need to change the whole backside of the case, a popular modding site has had a few guys modding apple cases to take PC hardware.

It's been done in the past. Here's an example of ATX hardware in a modified PM case: http://www.macmod.com/content/view/780/

I've seen this done in other builds as well but that's the best one I can find ATM.

EDIT: Here's another: http://www.webfusion.net.nz/g4pc/
EDIT2: If it were me I'd avoid the Mirror Drive Door (MDD) cases in favor of the classier-looking Quicksilver style.

Personally I think that case is ugly, I'd rather use one of these mac cases.

The G5 is much better looking than the G4...but then you mayaswell buy a LianLi.

thanks for all the replies. so it is possible but with lots of work

The reason I wanted to go for the mac case is I just love the look of it myself but I ideally want a computer that can be upgraded easily with gfx cards and sound cards etc and its never really that easy with a Mac. Another reason would be the price if I could get a mint g4 powermac mirror door for £20 than thats much cheaper than something like the antec fusion or stands unique claritus case which I have also considered.

thanks again I still may look into this and see what I can come up with :D

Have to agree prefere the G5 over the G4 case aswell, ive got an empty G5 case below my feet at work with my name all over it if someone dosent source a G5 mobo for me in the next month :D

I think the G5 is a really nice case, we have loads at college for video editing. Great air circulation, big and sturdy.

Theres a cheap replica on another computer retailers website.. if you cant be botherd with modding.. but it is a chea replica so you will get what you pay for

Another reason to choose Quicksilver or even Sawtooth rather than MDD is that the previous two use a more conventional expansion slots down/I/O panel up configuration. The MDD cases place I/O on the bottom and the expansion slots on top. If you are dead-set on an MDD case then you'll have to hack up the back to accommodate an ATX mobo since it will be the mirror image of the mobo for which the case is designed to house.
