Could I use my laptop as a second screen?

No you can't most likely as most the VGA/HDMI ports on a laptop are designed to be video out only.

Some laptops may have S-Video IN but that is very rare these days. (Pretty sure they don't do it anymore due to HDMI).

You may however look into a converter that goes from VGA/DVI to USB if that's possible.

I have another 24" dunno if it will fit on my desk though, Could I connect one via DVI and one via HDMI would it work?

Not 'traditionally' no.

Potentially some software to do it over TCP/IP though. Whether the performance would be suitable depends what you want to show on it really.

Ok I have two monitors on my desk now and its working fine one question how do I stop the other one from going black screen when I go into a game on another monitor? :P

But if I try and open a game on the one on the left monitor now the one on rights screen turns black.

If you dont want the other screen to go blank/black, run the game in windowed mode

no. you dont have to do this :)

My 3 screens all stay on (don't go blank) when playing a game even in fullscreen mode :) . Mine does this by default so can't really help you with trying to fix it, but it is possible :)

I was trying to play games using two screens no that doesnt work either this is all I get in the control panel :
