Was on computer last night watching an FF demo when it just turned off, the fans where still lit up and spinning but the computer was off and making a horrible sound which i cant really describe, it wasnt a motherboard bleep tho, it was more like a squeak , upon turning it right off and then trying it again it went into the same state...

On the next attemp it gave a small squeak but nothing happened, now i was thinking PSU, but im unsure as the wee lights that are on the motherboard are lit up, which made me me think that theres power getting to the board, but nothing happens when i press the on button could the PSU be just a wee bit broke?? as i thought a dead PSU would mean no signs of power

my spec is

OCZ 850 watt PSU
DFI 680i motherboard
Q6600 @ 2.4
Ledatek 8800 ultra
2 gig cosair ram
1 x 150 gig WD raptor
2 x 500 gig WD

I have a another PSU but its a 460 watt "Etech" (case bundle) which doesnt have the extra 4 pins on the power connector and only has the 4 pin CPU connector, i was unsure if it is ok to test my system with this PSU ?

What steps sould i now take ?

thank you

Helo, only just got around to having a look at this, decided to try the power supply in my old computer, which i had it in before my new componets arrived, and it doesn't power on in it ethier, it just makes a squeak, now i assume this is the power supply trying to tell me somethings is wrong, prehaps the fan has broke or summit its got a 36 month warrinty, which is void if i open it, to replace the fan or the likes...

Now, ive never had to return anything before, how do i do it ? do i go to overclockers ? (where i bought it) or do i go to OCZ (the maker)
and what do i need in terms of paperwork etc ?
