A while back i was having problems with pc crashing and black screening on me, at first i blamed win7 !! then everyone on here told me check my overclock, so i backed of my over clock back to stock but also removed my sound card as this was the last peice of hardware to go in.

since removing sound card i have gone back to 3.6 ghz overclock and done an overnight orthos test which lasted over 10 hrs without a single hitch.

could my sound card have caused all the problems i had before?

Put it back in and see if your o/c remains stable. If not, you'll have proved to yourself that the soundcard, directly or indirectly, was the problem. (For example, it might be that having anything in the PCI/PCI-e slot destabilises your o/c)

I had similar problems
I disabled somthing in the bios which disabled the onboard sound think it was called somthing 1334? although I may be wrong with the name your mb manual would tell you it's name
