Thank you very much.

Gotta say bledd, that looks awesome! I might cough up some dough for that company. I've been using add-your.net which is free for nothing more than my sigs and it's not been terribly reliable so far!

bledd. recommended qiq to me about 8 months ago and I have been using since. Absolutely fantastic, extremely fast, reliable, easy to use, loads of bandwidth - highly recommended.

I've got a website and I think I really should start doing something with it. The domain name and hosting are handled by 1&1.co.uk.

/waits for shrieks and yelling followed by tears of pity.

Anyways I've seen the qiq site and the pdf describing the features qiq offers. Would I be able to keep the domain but change the host from 1&1 to qiq?

The package benefits seem to be much better than what 1&1 offer me currently.

just sent you an msn..

you can stay with 1&1 for name hosting (or email them saying you want to leave, and transfer it all to qiq)

or you can look on qiq, and see what their name servers are, then enter them in your domain location details with 1&1

i have my name hosted at 123-reg.co.uk and my space with qiq (was cheapest option by about £3 a year)

qiq

they're uk based, 0% downtime so far (been with them for a while), and blindingly fast!

10gb storage, 100gb bandwidth, £16.99 a year

unlimited ftp and email accounts, and a load of other things like php and sql that i don't use

http://www.qiq.co.uk/technology1.php

their servers are hosted by uk2 :s , so in other words if their network goes down theres going to be so many issues considering uk2's support is non existant, and chances are theyre over selling the space aswell

Thanks bledd. I think I will keep the domain with 1&1. It would cost £10 to transfer the domain to QiQ and cost £21.50 every two years. 1&1 charge me £8.99 + VAT every year for the domain name.

When I move to QiQ I will save approximately £20 a year on hosting fees.

If you have trouble downloading from rapidshare with ntl, try changing your ntl proxy - it has worked for me in the past.
