Hi guys I've been having a problem with my BT broad band connection for the last week or so it's been running very slowly, I can't even view youtube vids properly without them buffering all the time, anyway here is my results from BT Speed Test,

I am on BT option 3 Broadband Package (8mb), the following test was performed @ 4.30pm Sunday.

Now I'm sure my IP profile used to be 6000kbs , does this change of it's own accord depending on peak times etc ?, or does you IP profile stay the same ?

Now given that it says that my actual IP throughput is 3600kbs (which is pretty dam low tbh) I don't seem to be achieving even that speed at all,

look at this test from Speedtest.net for example,

I've spoken to a guy at one of BT's fine foreign call centres and he looked at my speed test results and then connected to my system and cleared my temporary files , and then told me that my IP profile will be lower at peak usage times, aprt from that he couldn't find anything wrong with my line but I just can't believe that, I feel like I'm on a 1mb line atm, it's definitely right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ah ok, I didn't realise speedtest.net was an unreliable speed tester, tbh I have had my doubts about it before, I guess maybe the old boy at the support centre may of been right, perhaps it's just down to peak usage times atm, it is half term down here, it's just feels so dam slow, I'm half temped to move up country on the sole basis of getting a better broadband connection as I use it for everything, (TV, Gaming, Voice/Video Chat, Radio etc) Do you think it would help if I moved ISP ?, I was thinking of going with UKFSN as they are about the best ISP I can get down here (Newquay), or do think it's just down to my local exchange being crap and changing ISP won't really solve my issues ?

If you used to be on the 6000kbps IP profile, your sync rate must have been a good bit faster.
Your ISP or exchange don't really have anything to do with it, except BT Retail's support is garbage.

Ok cheers, you've helped clarify a few things for me anyway. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to this networking 'stuff'.
