Hi - i'm being a pain i Know!!!

however, my remote desktop connection is working for some people and not others!!!!

so can as many people as possible go to

www.eightiescrooner.gotdns.com:3389

and tell me if it loads windows server 2003 login screen

It didn't work for me. It timed out in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

I get it when I use the IP address, and the domain.

Edit: Are we meant to do it in a webbrowser? :confused:

that's the problem - you should be using just the dns name in the rdc client

eightiescrooner.gotdns.com

and it connects.

You need to do it via RDC (hence the port 3389).

So whats the username/password so we can do some more ......testing for you

Yeah, was confusing me a bit by the responses.

(I didn't realise I had the HTTP bit in the domain, so used IP when it didn't work. Realised after.

do you have to access it via the RDC client then or can you access it via an internet browser like i can within my internal network?

You have to use the RDP client.

Use mstsc /console from a command prompt and you'll be able to connect to the current session and not open a second session.

thanks, what I'm wondering is that at university (which is where I want to access my server) RDC and the command prompt are disabled which is why I wanted it to work using a web browser

any sugguestions?

Yes, use a VNC client, most of them (such as RealVNC) support JAVA based web applets which allow you to gain access via a browser on port 80.

Ah, you'll be the web client needing then.

Your Uni may still block it though.
