...About to buy this setup, I've been out of the hardware game for a couple of years and have been working on quick research and friendly advice from this forum. I just need to know if all this will work together...

Intel Pentium 4 805 Dual Core "LGA775 Smithfield" 2.66GHz (533FSB) - Retail (CP-116-IN) £72.95
Enermax Liberty 400W ELT400AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CA-026-EN) £40.95
Corsair 2GB DDR2 Value Select PC4200 Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) (VS2GBKIT533D2) (MY-096-CS) £108.95
Gigabyte 8N-SLi Pro nForce4 SLi (Socket LGA775) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-044-GI) £69.95
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-078-SE) £66.95
XFX GeForce PCX6600 Extreme XXX Edition 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PVT43-PUDS7) (GX-058-XF) £69.95
Akasa AK-961 CPU Cooler with Fan Controller (LGA775) (HS-033-AK) - £16.95
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g) (AC-000-AC) - £5.95
OcUK Value Estar 7799 Case With 400W PSU (CA-012-OK) - £25.30
Akasa SATA-2 45cm Silver Data Cable (CB-053-GE) x 2 = £7.00

If so, I look forward to editing my videos on it :)

I expect it'd be ok but that case sounds a bit geared to P4 systems, the screw holes of standard ATX boards should be the same and all that but I'd be tempted to go for the Antec SLK3000B instead for that money (you'd also get 120mm fans instead of 80mm, which means less noise and more cooling).

Other than that niggle, compatibility speaking you should be fine.

The CPU cooler you're getting already has a thermal compound pre-applied. Obviously the Arctic Silver 5 is better at thermal conductance (that the right phrase for it?), but for ease and to save every last penny you can forgo the thermal compound.

The case is dire, and will run very hot with that CPU as has been pointed out.

If you can stretch your budget slightly further you could buy the Antec Super Lanboy.

Cracking case, £35 down from £79.99 for no reason here on OcUK!

They are a bargain at the price, mad not to when its only slightly more for a case infinately better.

The Lanboy also will hold a better resale value. :)

Yep, everything is compatible there as far as I am aware. I'd probably change the case and the video card. Getting the Sonata II instead of the case + Enermax works out about the same price or less but is a good PSU and a better case. The video card you specified uses DDR2 which isn't great for video cards, the 6800 may be from B Grade so will probably be missing manuals/CDs/TV out cables etc i.e. just a bare card but is significantly faster.

BG-021-XF **B Grade** XFX GeForce 6800 256MB DDR TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PVT42PUDF7) (BG-021-XF)
£65.00 £65.00
CA-040-AN Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Case - 450W Smart Power PSU (CA-040-AN)
£55.50 £55.50
Subtotal £120.50
VAT £21.09
Total £141.59

On your advice Yewen I went for the LANboy, cheers :)

It's ordered, as specced, with the only change being the case. Thanks all.
