I havent built a machine for a couple of years and have been roped into making the xmas pressie for 'she who must be obeyed' :D

I cant spend any more than this, so could someone just let me know if theres any glaring incompatibilities between any of the bits? Individually - they all seem to be well regarded....

Machine is just for general daily use, but must run World of Warcraft really nicely at 1600 x 1200 as well as most other games (but Warcraft is far more important to her).

Also - am i right in choosing an E8500 rather than a Q6600 for this kinda machine?

Thanks in advance - any help much appreciated

change the HDD from a seagate 7200.11 to another HDD, these seem to be seagates worst drives to date.

hyper PSUs are not liked on this forum due to the hyper type R 580W incident (a lot of them died taking parts or peoples pcs out with them)

Couple of changes:

Switch the AC7 for an Akasa 965, its cheaper and a much more efficient cooler.

That Hiper PSU is out of stock and Hiper have a terrible reputation for PSUs. So switch that for the 500W Antec Earthwatts which is an excellent PSU for the price. You could look into the Earthwatts + Sonata 3 bundle as that's probably a better case yet might even work out cheaper.

Get the Samsung F1 640GB drive, twice the storage and should be quicker and it's only about £5 more.

I'd personally go with Yate Loons for the fans as they're much quieter but you'd have to go elsewhere to get the LED versions.

Go with the Gainward version of the 4850, same price but it has an improved custom cooler.

Rest looks fine, I installed a P43-DS3L in my brother's new PC and I'm over the moon with it. Great baord for the price.

My changes would be:

Slightly slower CPU ... but you won't notice .... and no different if you OC anyway Save £27

Artic cooling - only needed if you OC otherwise stock fan is fine save £19

This PSU is plenty of power - save £12

Better GPU = + £62

Overall ... £4 down with a generally faster system

Okay in the end, I kinda figured I would like the faster GfX card as she wants to buy herself a 24" screen and thus higher res gaming will be on the way..

Had to spend £50 more but the alternative was buying a couple of bits elsewhere and I really didnt want to do that. Forced to make a compromise on the chip but i figure she wont notice once overclocked....

Anyway - any final opinions before i place the order. I know everyone has different opinions so maybe just any glaring mistakes I may have made? (Cant believe i didnt check the seagate drive in my opening spec lol). I really cant spend any more as im £20 over max really already

Thanks in advance
