Could someone with a full height GPU and a SG05 case take a measurement for me please?

Hi, please could you tell me the distance between the top of your GPU and the bottom of the case?

I'm considering buying a passively cooled Sapphire HD6670, however the heatsink extends over the top of the PCB:

It's 13cm tall according to the Sapphire website. Will it fit a SG05?

Many thanks.

Yep it's the 300W version. :)

Cool. I've actually now got the SG06 300W running a Zotac G41 with a E2140 at 1.76GHz (:(). Incidentally, that's as far as it will go with any voltage on this board!! Considering this chip was upstairs running on a P35C-DS3R at 3.2GHz (3GHz every day usage), that's not a great overclock! So if anyone wanders upon this thread wondering whether or not the Zotac G41ITX-A-E overclocks...it doesn't :p.

I had a similar sapphire heatsink on a 5550 and an sg05 and the heatsink knocked against the top of the case and stopped it fitting in :(

What exactly was the card rodo? SAPPHIRE Ultimate HD5550 1GB DDR2? As that looks the same as the one in my OP...

The main problem, as I see it, is that there should not be any part of the GPU heatsink extending over the back of the GPU, because the space for the CPU cooler in the SG05 is very limited, especially with 1155 MITX boards.

Also, the airflow in the SG05 is not that good, and one should aim, if possible, for a GPU with an external exhaust, or at least one that does not exhaust too much hot air towards the front of the case, in a direction opposite to the airflow from the 120mm intake fan.

Regarding space at the back of the GPU, that's not a problem as the Sapphire in my OP is only 7" long, whereas this case takes 9" cards.

Regarding your point about cooling, potentially...except my CPU is running very cool (passive under a Gemini II) as it is not being clocked very far, and I won't be overclocking the GPU very much as I'm only using this for HD media and fairly basic gaming.

I run my SG05 2with specs below -
i5 2400, 8gb DDR3, Asus Direct CU GTX 560, Seagate hybrid drive and 450w PSU, all fits pretty snug.

Thanks for that. I know the GTX560 supports bitstreaming of HD audio over HDMI, but I'm not sure how plug-and-play and flexible it is compared to ATI 5xxx and 6xxx cards that have supported this for ages. That aside, it seems like a really good card for a gaming HTPC.

I have MSI GTX 550Ti cyclone 2 OC. It fits, with a bit headroom left, but I have to say it was difficult to maneuver because the tip of the heatsink cover is a bit tall.

I have to say I'd discounted nvidia GPUs for HTPC duties, but it seems like I need to do some more reading about them.
