Could this be a GPU problem

Hi, this guy with a HD2900XT has been having some problems and thinks its the graphics card, but I am not so sure, he said that when he was loading 3dmark he got a message saying windows could logg off coz of some programs, but he said it did this once and logged off normally and computer restarted, but it shut down and did not boot, like the monitor would not come on, now I told him to do a few things, system restore, look in even manager, now in even manager he had 7 errors in the past hour, but all no reasons for them, he also got a BSOD but was too quick to see what was on it and 3DMark 06 would not load up.

He's using Vista btw.

Could you elaborate on the event errors he's getting? Perhaps some error codes or descriptions may shed some light on the problem?

If windows is booting, even to the point of a BSOD, then I would doubt very much that it's the graphics card. More likely it's an incompatibility with the drivers or some other conflict within windows.
