Hi all,

Im looking to upgrade the tower i currently use as a file server into a low-cost gaming rig, just curious as to whether this is feasable; and whether the standards i would require to make it worth it to me can be achieved at the sorts of costs im prepared to pay.

Current specs are:

Pentium Dual Core E5400 @ 2.7Ghz (Stock cooling)
4GB RAM
4TB HDD Capacity (2x Sammy 1TB, 1x WD Green 1TB, 1x Sammy 750GB & 1x WD Green 320GB (IDE)
800w PSU
2x Optical drives
Onboard video (Intel Extreme)
Onboard sound (5.1 AC97)
Optoma HD65 720p Display
Logitech z680 5.1 Sound

Expansion options:

1x PCI-X 16x Slot
1x PCI-X 1x Slot
2x PCI Slot (Both in use - 1 LAN card, 1 SATA Controller)

The output from the HD65 means that high resolution gaming isnt really an option for me. So i'll be running my games at 720p or lower.

I would like to be able to run most if not all games at acceptable and reliable framerates (As effectively as my Xbox 360)

Is this achievable with this rig, and if so what upgrades would be required?
