Rose tinted glasses aside. UE3 is though. :confused: The UDK is a lot more accessible than any of the source tools as well for indie developers.

Valve make money on everything they release. Hell, they can make enough money giving away hats in TF2 to give the game away free.

It would make no sense to create a flag ship title the HL3 will be for valve and then release it on an engine which in modern terms is lagging behind other technology on the market.

Developers are getting their hands on the next gen dev kits for the next Xbox already supposedly.

It makes even less business sense for them to delay un-naturally for what could be several years waiting for all of the next gen consoles to come out. Particuarly if they've already been working on a new engine for years.
It's already been 5 years since Ep2.

Either way, I don't think this announcement is anything to do with either Ep3 or HL3.
 
I really would not be surprised if they went directly to HL3 and forged Ep3. It's been so long now that Ep3 would be somewhat of a disappointment.

I reckon then be working on Source 2 and they will announce HL3 soon...

Given how long it's been, I'd settle for just reading the games script at this point so I know how the story ends :p
 
well it is nearly 5 years since episode 2 will be this October , to make good game with even brand new engine takes around 5 years , diablo 3 took 5 years(going by blizzard podcast) .

so if it is not coming out end of this year they dragging it down like duke nukem tbh.
 
When it does come out, it will have a cameo npc based on that hot chick at IGN, drive you to the wire with nailbiting decisions and heart wrenching choices, and then give you a red/green/blue ending where each of them destroys the LHC at CERN because in reality - even though thats never cropped up before - the G-Man, who is you father, was experimenting with blackhole technology and somehow managed to open a black hole in the Black Mesa complex at the exact time you were trying your experiment in Half-Life, except of course your experiment was actually in Half-Life 3, its just that no one realised this because the timeline hadn't been warped yet, even though it actually had been warped because the experiment had been started at LHC before you started your experiment at Black Mesa only because the G-Man had travelled back in time in order to screw up your experiment because whilst he is your father he's also your son because the Nihilanth impregnated your wife with his seed, as it turns out you are the Nihilanth and killed yourself in a bad dream.

It’ll be some announcement about Linux support, given up all hope of ever seeing another Half Life game..

Half Life 2 is still one of the finest fps ever to be released, even to this day some 8 years since Half Life 2 was released in 2004 it still looks good – testament to how ahead Half Life 2 really was for its time.

But, please, please……!!!! I do hope this is some sort of Half Life announcement.
