Could this be the Virgin SuperHub 4 router?

Can you imagine the fracas it would cause if they removed Modem mode?

For 95% of Joe Public though it wouldn't be a problem. It's only really us nerds that use that functionality. It wouldn't surprise me if they did remove modem mode and took on a more "managed" stance if the router they have can handle gigabit and wifi in the way it's described. Maybe only reserving a modem mode for business customers who. Nothing would surprise me along those lines.

You often see support telling people to remove their 3rd party equipment and put the Superhub back to default with a pin hole reset before an engineer visits so they don't seem to have any interest in the modem mode,You wouldn't tell people to do that with a dedicated modem.

That has more to do with the customer not being billed for a callout and the operator not getting his/her ass kicked for sending a tech to find it's a 3rd party hardware issue.

But that's the point as they used to trouble fix 3rd party before the Superhub and they removed that support so how long before they remove modem mode support so the operators don't have to waste time making sure everything is back to stock and take a more complete managed approach as Steveocee said?

VM only officially support its own hardware, they don't train staff on 3rd party kit which is why you have always been asked to reset the router, this eliminates your own hardware as being at fault.
