Hi. I am looking at a new upgrade for my brother in law. He only needs a CPU, RAM and mobo. He has aroung £200-£300 to spend. So far having looked at a few older posts I have come up with the following:

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - OEM
Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Tuniq Tower 120-LFB CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz Black Dragon DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GB24GB6400C5DC)

All for £308 inc Delivery

Is this the best bang for buck??

Cheers

Yep, you should be able to get between 3.3Ghz - 3.6Ghz depending on the chip. Those boards benefit from a BIOS update before trying to clock though.
