just curious... since im a single person... why do i have to pay one and a half peoples council tax??? i.e. the "single persons discount" on council tax = 25% off. why isnt it a fair 50% as i am only 1 person.

and another thing... i want to buy a house, how the hell am i supposed to do that? i can barely afford to rent a council property in the arse end of nowhere (midlands) let alone buy my own place :( "Britain has the longest sustained period of economic growth for 200 years" - Gordon brown.

Well Mr brown, regardless of our nice strong economy, let me tell you it sucks to be single. you get the feeling that the system in general is geared towards couples and familys, but what about me ??? :( what about all the other single people in there early 20`s struggling to pay the gas bill let alone pay the rent or buy a house :(

your home uses the same amount of street lighting , road cleaning , policing etc whether there is one or two people living there

it uses 50% of the cleaning (waste), the police get only £53 of the total council tax, the fire brigade gets only £23, the remaining £683 goes to the city. also it should be noted that im in a 1 bedroom flat in a high rise run down hell hole of a block paying the same ammount as a 3 bedroomed house in the next area over.
