Thats right.

A little game for you all.

I just recieved my Dell 2007WFP and noticed a black blob on the screen so took a picture which revealed what looks like around 5 dead pixels.

Take a look...

I am hopefully getting it exchanged for another but just out of intrest how many pixels look dead to you ?

Thanks, Sam

Ouch my eyes!!!, sometimes I coun't 5, somtimes 7. Still should be enough to claim back since they are all around the same location.

Are you displaying a white background there? So each one of those squares is an RGB triplet?

Looks like the screen has been banged or something. None of the pixels look entirely dead, but there's maybe up to 8 or 9 that don't seem to be working right (ie displaying the same colour as the background). That should be grounds for an RMA/swap.

1) Poke blob.
2) Find that poking the blob may of fixed it.
3) Be amazed.

Or, alternatively

1) Poke blob.
2) Find that poking the blob actually made another 10 dead pixels appear.
3) Send it back. :)

No, I'm not going to start poking it incase I crack the screen and then I will have no screen to trade in

I poked my VX912, it got rid of the lazy pixel.

Shame about the thunderbug I poked to death which is still stuck there.

About 4 pixels worth of dead bug facing diagonally.

*Poke, poke* ;)

Thats quite bad... i had a simmilar problem with dell.. my 19" tft had a pixel missing right in the middle of the screen (phoned and complained and got it changed).. a mate had issues with his lappy screen... i guess dell quality is a bit rubbish?

It's ok to gently massage the screen with the end of one finger, that doesn't damage screens normally. Just don't put on tons of pressure. It can bring dodgy pixels back to life.

I have never EVER seen a dead/stuck pixel come back to life.

I've had about six TFTs myself and work in a place which has about 300.

Not saying it can't happen, but i've never seen it

I've read plenty of posts here and elsewhere from people who have recovered pixels, especially stuck sub-pixels.

Is it normal for dead pixels to be grouped together like that?

dell quality is getting a bit wounded, but what can you expect for stuff made in china. cheap labour = cheapo goods.
How so? Perfectly happy with the 2007wfp I recently bought as are many others it appears from reading these forums.

Some of them look a bit greyish, looks like its had a bump or something, including the ones that are a funny colour I think I can count 8 - 10. But its making my eyes go haywire :P. I'd RMA it for sure!
