Counter Strike Global Offensive rumours

"A thread on the Steam forums seems to confirm that rumours about a new Counter-Strike game – Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – are true, with commenter “Cliffe” (who is Valve designer chap Jess Cliffe) saying “Global Offensive”. There have been a bunch of other references to it, on Twitter and so forth.

And update on the ESEA Facebook page reads “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive… More info in the morning.” So it looks like we can expect something later today"

more guff or do people think this will actually be a new game? things have moved on quite a bit since CS so think it would have to be quite different

If you change the game at all in any way shape or form then the hardcore crowd will complain that it's changed too much (look at the uproar with CS:S from the 1.6 crowd) and if you don't change it enough everyone else is unhappy. They can't win!

why are you saying meh consoles, CS is a classic 5v5 tournament series, going the other way would be cutting out the core demographic.

May have a bit of inside info on this, might be irrelevant though.

My colleague plays CSS at quite a high level and apparently a few guys he knows (through CSS) are all being flown over to seattle or something. All expenses paid for by valve, hotels/flights etc.

The important thing is that these guys are some of the best players in the UK, so valve obviously cares about the views of competitive players (at least they want people to think they care).

I'll ask him more about it when I catch him.

Well, many people were all "meh" about CSS coming out, I know I was and I just thought, it's pretty much going to be the same game but prettier.

Same thing happening again? If you go too far off the rails people will be mighty unhappy, and possibly ruining what's been working for oh, god, a decade or more?

I don't expect much, but I do play CSS over 1.6 because that's all the people I play with do play.

More players = less teamwork, more random spam, less skill. Fine for BF, but don't mess with CS!

hope fully they will have weapon upgrades aswell, similar to BF2/BFBC2 where you rank up to have more upgrades available, i.e. silenced weapons, iron sights ect... night vision is a must.

Lool no i just think it would be better to have a wider range of weapon/upgrades available. it fits in with the Counter Terrorist vs Terrorist hostage save, for example most people like the Office map so if it was at night with night vision and silenced weapons, abit like rainbow six.

you can buy night vision goggles all ready.

the m4 and usp have silencers.


you don't need unlock able weapons just add them to the buy list.

if it's a refresh why would they put it on an older engine since they already updated it to the ep2 engine?
