Hi some of you may remember me putting this a few weeks ago but giving it another bash. when ever i put counterstrike source onto my pc it makes a horrible mess of things, I dont even have to be playing the game i will just get some random warning windows failed to write and a system warning of something going wrong in system 32 files.

I get a warning sound like when you click on something you shouldnt and then the sound goes like a machine gun then piters out to the point the pc goes slow then freezes and you have to reset.

Its realy anoying because it used to work on all the smae settings before i formated my pc. im using xp on sp3 if thats any help please help

Is it a pirate copy?

wait let me talk in a language you may understand

yarrrr me heartie did ye find that on *** pirate bay?

Neigh, i bought it from a shop a very popular game shop.

( the name is in the sentece ) i dont want to say directly as as im lead to beleive its not alowed on forums

Yarr vista is more sensitive than XP so memtest is a good idea. Check the basic things most people suggest like drivers being latest/compatible with vista so on and so forth.

Isn't XP SP3 a bit didgey on some systems anyway so I've read? Have you tried it with just SP2 installed? That might be worth a shot. As well as Memtest obviously.

Is it possible to put sp2 back on with out restoring or formating the machine?

I installed Service Pack 3 yesterday and it shows in the Add/Remove Programs list, you could try uninstalling it from there.

only HP's, because of the lazy way they deployed images from intel cpu's to ones with amd's in

-try installing steam and registering the key from CS with that

Well i removed service pack 3 and what do you know Bobs your monkhouse!! it worked spent all of lastnight getting slaughtered.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Out of interest, is it an AMD system your using? This is one reason I haven't tried SP£ yet, just cause of compatibility issues.

Yet I'm sure there are 100's of people on here already using it.

No im using a Q6600 2.4ghz you know the saclar 95w one

i personaly dont think heres a fantasticly heuge benefit of sp3 IMO ofcourse, i seamed to have a lot of hastle with it

The majority of it is just all of the updates since SP2 anyway...They're jsut bundled together as far as I know.

Glad you got it working though :)
