Counter-Strike Source freezing just after i get in game. Bah! Help please :)

Counter Strike Source freezes as soon as i start in game, and as soon as it freezes my fans on my pc start spinning like crazy. Now automatically you'd say it was overheating, but all my temperatures are fine.

On my last install of my operating system, about 8 months ago, CSS was working perfectly. But now with this install, and using the 81.98 drivers on my 6800GT AGP is just keeps freezing, so annoying.

I know people will say upgrade to newer drivers, but the new ones are really crap! (I'll give it a go later maybe if nothing else works)

Any other suggestions as to what i can do, or does anyone know if there are any known issues like this please?

I'd ask on the steam forums but i don't have an account at the moment. Maybe i'll try later to sign up.

It seems to be i can buy my weapons and just after then it freezes, the sound will also loop. Sometimes i can play for 30 seconds before it freezes, but usually it's almost straight away as i get in game after buying stuff.
 
I just verified the game and it works......

I didn't actually know you could start the game without verifying the cache thingy, heh....
