Counter strike source = impossible to get back into?

The fact CSS lacks iron sights makes it feel old for me. Hate aiming using the crosshairs! I miss the headshot thing mind. I enjoy BC2 but the only guns where headshots count seems the be the sniper rifles

I am not saying anyone is right or wrong, but many ex CSS players are vocal about how poor the game is now, how much truth is there in this?

It is the second most played game behind 1.6 - lol

I doubt a game this old could lose soo many players yet gain soo many as well.

It's a hideous game played only by super nerds that believe they are better than everyone else in the gaming community because they play CS. For that reason I choose not to play it.

does anyone have a css server i might reinstall it, ill suck more than a dyson tho, getting too old.

Its the only game ive stuck to for such a long time, but the pub side of it is absoloute rubbish, Competitive side of css is what makes it so good, and it never gets boring.

I'm pretty bored with fps games beeing too noob-friendly these days (bc2, cod series) and miss the good old days when they were about skill and tactics above all.

Iron sights are the devil! They take the focus away from precise aiming and reactions and replace them with slower, more random luck based gameplay - all in the name of levelling the playing field and making it easy to get kills. They promote camping and 'who sees who first wins'. It feels like taking off the training wheels when going from CoD or BC2 to CSS and RTCW/ET.

Counter Strike is a fantastic game. But like others have said, the servers that made it such fun arent around anymore. It was the game of choice for a reason. I used to spend hours playing Scout maps and Deagle5 servers were awesome beyond many levels.

Used to love this game but cannot stand games that ain't got aim down site.I do like to aim my gun at ppl hopefully they will fix it when new one comes out :-)

ive just played 100 rounds of office...not bored of it yet :p

me and some friends play it every once in a while and its always fun.

God I love that map. Im going straight back on CS when I get home in New year :D

Recently downloaded CS:S again after about 3years...

It's taking awhile to get used to it again, but getting there! :D

Ok, answer me this, am I supposed to aim where the player WAS, or where the player WILL BE?

I only ask because aiming where they ARE (on my screen), doesn't work, and that to me is a MAJOR failing of CSS.

Then there is something wrong with internet or you are moving while you are shooting or something

If he's moving fire ahead of him depending on distance and direction of travel.]

If stationary aim for the head, but unless they are camping people rarely stay still in CSS ;)

Wow, that was some pretty clueless advice. Everything you just said is wrong.

1. Aim where he is, on LAN. CSS has terrible netcode and hit reg, which is a big reason why a lot of people stayed with CS. In theory though, aim where they are.

2. As a CT you will spend a vast amount of your time staying in a relatively small area, or standing still. Equally, you will as a T once you've planted, most of the time anyhow. CS is more about positioning than it is anything else, and learning where to expect people, how to catch them out and so on with your own position is 90% of the game. There are exceptions to this of course, but as a rule - If you're not 'camping' as a CT, you're doing something wrong.
