Counter strike source keeps crashing?

Hey guys, well counter strike source has been crashing for the last couple of months i thought it was a over heating issue with my graphics card however i sorted the heating issue however it still plays up.

This is what happens:
1.Go on source and may be ok, however now and then whilst on a map black boxes occur flickering then it will start to freeze and then freeze then i may have to restart my computer, however when this happens my monitor then cannot figure out whether it wants to go with dvi or analogue resulting in me restarting my computer 5 times or more until it works.

Counter strike source also sometimes freezes and goes weird with out even going on a server, it will just go all freezey and weird and bugger up and be gay grrrrrrrr, all i want to do is play.

Anyone any ideas?

You spend £1700 on a computer over a year or two and it cant even work for what you want, sometimes i hate technology bring back marbles!

same happen to me on my Saphire x700 long time a go i dont know if it help you but i think it was my memory on the gpu that went bust but im not sure might of been core to.

try to install new drivers. does it happen to other games? try to check with different graphics card , try to reinstall cs:s

hope one of those solutions help check if it happens to other games

Thanks mate nope strangely enough just counter strike source, so not sure if its a game thing. Just happened again but it sends my monitor funny, and when i successfully restart like just then it mght appear fine then my monitor might turn off and cant connect to the signal, so i will have to restart again and again and again.

Well i am going to reinstall css again tomorrow firstly updatr drivers, then i will re install, then i might lend a mates graphics card and see if thats the problem

ive seen these boxes before, my suggestion is try an older driver, even tho ppl may say update, often a older driver can fix it

Ok so i have tried installing newer drivers and deleting the old ones, was fine yesterday however today it crashed again with in seconds of going on to the game.

I shall try reinstalling counter strike source tonight or tomorrow, any other suggestions?

if you did not reinstall it yet reinstall it should not take you long .

check in options are u using your monitors rez like my friend had 17" inch and he was using 19" res on it and source was badly lagging.

I think i have sorted the problem "think". Counter strike kept crashing tonight and i was getting annoyed so i hit my desk and my monitor switched off the cable at the back for the power is really loose fitting, the cable was just crap the one that i got with my samsung 206bw, so i changed it for a different one which appeared to fit in nice and tightly.

I have been on css since and its been beautiful, no glitches nothing, this could just be for now it could re-appear but something tells me its sorted it.

and just think its only taken me 7 months
£360 upgrade then another
£160 upgrade
5 windows reformats,
3 steam reinstalls,
numerous driver installations and deletes
about three thousand system restarts
10 or more power supply turn offs
and many "Grrs" and "aghh i am going to smash this peice of rubbish"

Well for future reference be aware of the samsung 206bw cable's which are sometimes VERY loose.

You would think for £180 they could provide you with a decent cable.
