Counter Strike Source using backup to install on another account

Hi,

My and my brother both have legit accounts with our own version of CSS on them.

We're still with 512Kbps here so reinstalling and re-updating takes a while.

Would it be possible for me to update mine, then use the backup tool and install it on his? Or is the backup only valid for my account?

Same question goes for HL2

you can just copy your folder across to his computer and then he can log in using his account pretty much fully updated if thats what your asking.

i have my hl2 css tf2 and others installed on a different hard drive...so if i need to reinstall windows i dont need to do a full installation again. i just click on the steam icon(from the folder) then launch the game of choice

I was under the impression that when you installed and updated games on Steam a specific ID identifying your hardware & your account were attached to the files. Not sure why I thought that, but I was wrong
