Hi, having a bit of a problem.

Lately my cs:s has started crashing. my temps are fine,

43 degrees cpu load
76 gpu load 53 idle.

What happpnes is the game would freeze and the sound would loop, then it would crash without me needing to restart the pc.

The second crash is the same only the PC is unable to respond. The keyboard caps lock etc wont even light up.

I have also tried the game with my onboard graphics "nvidia 8200" and the problem was the same. it even froze more than my 8600gt.

PC specs:
AMD pheneom tri core 2.1ghz
nvidia 8600gt 512mb]
3 gigs ram
650 watt psu
320 gig hdd

Have you updated anything lately, drivers, different hardware configuration, any steam updates - they have been known to give people a few problems. Otherwise all I can think of is that your PSU could be struggling. Is it an old one?

Yeah, its new only one or two months old.

and ive installed the new nvidia drivers yesterday, there are no new sound drivers for me.

its not a power issue. It only does it in counter-strike source so... dont know whats causing it.

also has done it with every driver ive used.

Have you got a spare soundcard (from an older pc) that you can try? Disabling the onboard in bios, as tbhis would help test if it is the sound drivers. My creative Xfi crashes in a lot of games, so I've given up and gone back to onboard. This may help you, may not.

Also try verifying the game cache if you haven't already and setting the heapsize to half of your system memory.
