i had m graphics card for 4 months (7600GT) then i got back in to css, then i released i can play this game @1920x1080 on low and get 60-80fps constant (mostly 80 though) my card started dieing weird barcode effects etc total screen freezing

sent it back to ocuk they gave me a b grade replacement (i think) had no box etc. been playing css again for 2 weeks or so fine. but now again seeing same symptoms of death

i know its not the other parts of my pc as done memtest and checked all other possiblitys.

What sort of temps is the card reaching under load ?
Quick test if it's a heat/case/airflow related issue is whipping the side cover of & gettting a big house fan to blow across the card towards the back. If it runs ok then you need to improve case cooling/airflow.

I think you need to think more hardware related. A game can't be responsible for c0cking up a card, especially not an older gen one like CS:S. If you said you were running Crysis or 3dmark 06 on it for months and THEN switched to CS:S and it cocked up then maybe. But in reality, its more likely to be a system issue. Could be dodgey mobo, PSU?

well the cards been fine today i just swpped my soundcard drivers (as they used to lock up my pc due to xfi bad drivers. see if it happens again :)

but in general running a lowend card on high res kill it?

mobo and psu seem fine.

i was thinking it the bar code could be slow hdtv response time? and if lockups are from soundcard its all fine :D

One game won't kill a card,

As for high res, in general it will make the card work a lot harder, and draw more power - so in theory if there are any small defects it might help expose them.

THink of it like overclocking a CPU. You might be able to get 3GHZ overclock with your CPU, when it is idle in windows right. But the moment you put strain on it by running intensive programs it may crash, either to much heat OR more voltage.

It could be your card is overheating, (poor air flow) or various other things.
