I think I've nearly had enough now, almost every death today was because of the stuttering. I've had this stuttering problem for a while but now It's just really getting to me.

I've been googling for over an hour and I've not found 1 relevant fix. I've tried all the usually stuff such as cl_smooth, trying without AV, reducing resolutions, validating CS:S and all the other results google had produced, yet nothing has worked :(

This is the spec of my pc:

A64 3500+
1GB PC3200
Galaxy 6800GT
250GB Samsung Spinpoint

I also had the same problems in DOD:S on the free weekend.

Does anyone know a solution to this? I'm literally pulling my hair out :(

Thanks

Have you dropped the detail all the way down to bottom, will it still stutter then? If not, work your way up on graphics settings from there until it starts to stutter.

Do you mean lag?, ive got 4MB broadband and every now and again i get a slight stutter due to lag. Its definatly not my gfx as i get like 80-200 FPS consistantly, it never drops below 80.

I'd tried that and unfortunately it didn't work :(

Nothing is overclocked. I've tried different drivers, updated VIA chipset and updated the bios  :(

Just to explain this stuttering . . Basically the game is smooth for about 5 seconds, it then locks up for a split second (So an enemy would more or less appear out of the blue) and then goes smooth for 5 seconds and stutters like every 5 seconds.

Cl_Interpolate is set to 1.0.

V-sync is off.

Running bog standard XP with modified theme [uxtheme replaced] and that's definitely not an issue.

It's not my rates.

Help a CS addict :(

Thanks.

Type netgraph 3 into the console and let us know what your ping and choke/loss and fps is? Take a rough average from a couple of servers and different maps. What internet connection have you got? Have you applications running in the backround like a virus scanner? Do you get this with any other games?

I've tried all of that :)

Choke and Loss is the very minimum 0-5. Ping is fine over different servers and many maps. I've got a connection of 1.5mb (currently). I've ran the game with and without various programs such as Winamp, Bitcomet, Nod32, Windows Firewall.

Coming to think about your last part of the quesion it, I've just tried running up and down in Guild Wars and it has the similar 'stutter' effect.

Something tells me I have a dodgy connection perhaps?

are you on a wireless network?

I find I have to turn wireless zero config off sometimes as it keeps checking every few seconds for the network

I had this problem constantly when i used to play CS:S/HL2. I tried absolutely every 'fix' known to man but without any success. Ended up just putting up with it in the end. :(
