Right couple of questions.

Budget Card:
i need a card for my mothers PC, it was my old system and has an 8800gtx however, the Card decided to pack in a short while ago, now my mother does like her games, the 8800gtx was able to play the games she used comfortably.
for this i would like to spend no more than £100
XFX ATI Radeon HD 6770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
bearing in mind the system its going into is a C2D(e6600 i think???) with 2gb RAM so its nothing special, would this card be a reasonable buy or overkill?
i want my mother to be able to play the games she usually does but i dont want to waste money on a card that the system wont be able to make full use of if you know what i mean.
i'm not too fussed wether its ATI or Nvidia just as long as its under £100

Going XFire:
i have recently just bought a new system, and have been thinking of Xfiring the system, and i have decided to go ahead with it whilst i have the money.
however i have never dabbled with multiple GPU's before and have no knowledge of how it works.
I have a single Sapphire HD 6950 2048mb card with what i assume is the single fan Reference cooler.
what i would like to know is if the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 "Dual Fan Edition" 2048MB would run XFire with my original card fine?
i would have just bought the same card as i have, purely for piece of mind that it would work together, however for some bizzare reason its more expensive than the Dual Fan edition:confused:
from what i can see the spec is the same apart from the cooler which i believe shouldnt make any difference but i just want to make sure before i press the button.
will the be any confliction with the 2 cards or will it run fine?

hopefully planning to make these purchases as soon as i have answers to these questions.

That card would be fine, however, I would buy THIS as she already had an nvidia card and it is easier with drivers. THIS card would also be pretty good

They will work together as long as they are the same GPU and VRAM size. The dual fan is a good bet. you may also want to consider the MSI twin frozr card for £230 but it would underclock to match your reference 6950's speeds

Ok, let me revise my first post then. The MSI twin frozr would be my choice as it has a great cooler and great CS. Also, you can OC your reference 6950 and have a nice set of OC'd cards :)

would a 430 with only 96 processing core actually be any faster than the previous 8800gtx i don't think it would.

Not pressed the buy button yet, however the idea wasnt to get a better card, it would be nice, but one comparable in performance would be sufficient as i have no intention of upgrading any other components on her pc for the time being so i dont want to waste money on a card that will be bottlenecked by the rest of the system.
