I've 'finally' got round to testing out the Apple water and have bought myself a Black Macbook, however it was shipped out on Tuesday and the expected delivery date is 07.12.2007. Is it normal for Macs to take so long to ship?

Second question, has anyone tried MacDrive before? The reason for asking is I intend to keep all my music on the apple partition but I would still like my XP Bootcamp to be able to play it.

Thanks all

Apple usually take quite awhile to ship the item - especially if you bought a "Made to Order", none basic stock ones, e.g. increased memory or HDD. However, they often over estimate the time than under estimate, so be prepared to get it in a week's time or less.

I've tried MacDrive and I think it's awesome, makes file transfering and moving so much easier over a HFS+ drive to my Windows XP/Vista systems :)

Anything that is extre ie: apple care, anything like that will take 2weeks to ship as it comes from Tiwan.

So your gunna just have to sit tight sorry to say.

My college at work ordered a MBP and its out for delivery today. That was ordered 2 weeks ago

Isn't a certain MBP taking awhile to be shipped due to the lack of processors or something?

Anyway, as said by waso dude, it's shipped from the Far East (often Shanghai) and that's why it takes so long...

Nope its due to extra addons.

Anything that is just a stock one, no extras, as shipped from the UK depo.

But say you add applecare its from Shanghai.

We worked out bestthing to do Pauly - Cancel the order and reorder the macbook on its own, then straight after do a secound order and order the apple care and mini DVI cable.

Its showing as shipped so I can't seem to cancel, oh well its only a week. Gives me a chance for my 4gb and 200gb 7200rpm drive to arrive :)

What does the applecare actually come with? I figured it was just a paper warranty?

IIRC, it's just an envelope containing a technical disk (which I didn't both using) and a manual/terms and condition... I should actually read it before packing it into my MacBook's box and attic it... :/

Well I'm still waiting, obviously this is to be expected as its before the delivery date. However on the apple website I now have a tracking number, great, but the listed carrier is UK DISTRIBUTION CENTER. Any idea who apple usually use so I can try and track it? The number begins with 80.

Thanks all!

Mine was shipping on the 1st, and I received it today.

Was due to come "between 7th-10th" so yes, they over estimate the shipping.

..this was my order of a 24" iMac, with a lead time of 3 days to ship.

Mine was shipped on the 27th!

Either way its not too much of a problem, the tracking number has now changed to a UPS number and on their website it says its out today. :D

Pics etc required when it gets there!

Well the mac arrived and I'm very happy with it. Slowly getting used to Mac OS and its not bad at all.

Lame pic and yes it looks just the same as all the other MacBooks!

Installed a few bits of software on it already and really loving vm fusion! Memory (4gb) and HD (200gb 7200) were so easy to install, by far the easiest laptop in the world to work on.

Only downside I have found is fingerprints...but I'm promising myself I will not turn into one of those anal mac owners.
