Hi guys, would appreciate a quick bit of advice on monitors. Monitors and HD have left me a bit confused :(

1: What is the difference between a HD TV and a HD monitor?

2: What makes a monitor HD ready? Is it just literally that it is able to do 1920 x 1080 resolution and accept HDMI input?

3: Is there a benefit to using a graphics card that outputs via HDMI rather than using a DVI to HDMI convertor?

4: Is there a benefit to getting a 24" over a 22" or vice versa assuming both had the same 1920 x 1080 res?

5: Are the days of having to make sure you buy a suitable low milli second response time monitor for gaming gone? Are they all quick enough now?

6: Do they mainly come with 1 x HDMI input or some have more?

7: If I play a HD file off of my computer via my HD graphics card to my monitor via HDMI or DVI>HDMI at 1920 x 1080 resolution, thats HD right? There is no catch? Simple as that? For some reason Im left assuming it cant be that simple? lol

8: In order to game at 1920 x 1080 I assume my 256mb ATI HD 3850 is in dia need of an upgrade right there? Mainly the memory being so low?

Thanks for reading, really appreciate the help.

1: What is the difference between a HD TV and a HD monitor?
HD TV has a TV Tuner and most likely has multiple HDMI inputs and can be low resolution such as a 720p rather than 1080p.

2: What makes a monitor HD ready? Is it just literally that it is able to do 1920 x 1080 resolution and accept HDMI input?
Usually it is but some monitors will as mentioned above be 720p rather than 1080p although if it says 1920x1080 then obviously it can do 1080p.

3: Is there a benefit to using a graphics card that outputs via HDMI rather than using a DVI to HDMI convertor?
Main benefit of HDMI is sound over the HDMI cable.

4: Is there a benefit to getting a 24" over a 22" or vice versa assuming both had the same 1920 x 1080 res?
Yes, if you prefer a bigger screen. Especially for bigger text and icons at the desktop and for the wow factor. :)

5: Are the days of having to make sure you buy a suitable low milli second response time monitor for gaming gone? Are they all quick enough now?
If you are buying a new TN panel based monitor it's unlikely you would have a problem gaming with regards to response time and ghosting (although it's subjective but most likely would be more than happy). With the better than TN panel monitors you would need to find out the specifics of the monitor.

6: Do they mainly come with 1 x HDMI input or some have more?
Strangely a lot of 1080p monitors still don't include HDMI, most are still VGA/DVI! More are being released all the time though and it's usually the cheaper end of the scale that doesn't come with HDMI.

7: If I play a HD file off of my computer via my HD graphics card to my monitor via HDMI or DVI>HDMI at 1920 x 1080 resolution, thats HD right? There is no catch? Simple as that? For some reason Im left assuming it cant be that simple? lol
Yes, it's that simple.

8: In order to game at 1920 x 1080 I assume my 256mb ATI HD 3850 is in dia need of an upgrade right there? Mainly the memory being so low?
Depends on the game but more than likely an upgrade will be a good idea.
