I'm using a generic 5.1 headset, no comments on that please because in all honesty, the sound volume and quality are higher than any of the 'high quality', expensive 5.1 headsets I've used.
I'm using an on-board 7.1 sound max driven (up to date drivers as on last night) sound card on an Asus M2N deluxe mother board (I suspect this may be the problem to some extent)
1st problem - In counterstrike:source my microphone will be perfect quality, then the map will change and for 2 maps or so, all my mic will do is transmit deafening static (yet it still works perfectly in teamspeak).
2nd problem - When using fraps to record demos I either get no sound at all, or the sound very quiet underneath a deafening (but entirely different sounding from the mic problem) static.
Any help with these problems would be much appreciated
