Couple of problems

Hey,

Before I start here is the spec I've built:

Case: Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case with Fan Controller - Black
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 700W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H Socket 1155
CPU:Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache Ivybridge
CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7
Graphics Card: MSI HD 6850 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz Low Profile Vengeance
Hard Drive: Seagate 500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Barracuda Hard Drive
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Optical Drive: Standard DVDRW

All my parts for my spec arrived yesterday, put everything together, double checked it all and then powered up.

I have 2 problems here;

When everything above is connected and powered up nothing appears on my screen. The cpu cooler is working, optical drive and the MSI 6850's fan is spinning. I removed MSI 6850 and connected the monitor to the motherboard output and it seemed to boot up.

I checked the BIOS everything seems detected and fine so i went ahead to install my Windows 7 64Bit. When I try to install it, after a few selection screens it gets to a driver screen and it can't seem to detect any hard drive. The hard drive seems to be detected on the BIOS.

Ok now the second problem, the MSI 6850.

Once I reconnect the MSI 6850 and power back up I have the same problem again, nothing on my monitor. Could the card be faulty or could there be a problem with my motherboard? The fan on the MSI seems to work but no output to the monitor.

So my two problems are Windows 7 won't install because it can't detect 'drivers' and when I connect the MSI 6850 I do not get anything on my screen.

During the installation I was very careful and took my time, made sure I handled everything correctly. I honestly thought I did a pretty good job for my first time doing a complete new build.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

is the 6850 seated correctly and is the pci-e power connector secure ?

and have you tried the card in the other pci-e slot.

any chance you can get a pic of the screen you get to ?

from what i can see online its a bit of a stupid one, as it seems to want a formatted hardrive, people have formatted there hard drive on another system and its worked fine after that

check your BIOS and see if your SATA controller is set to IDE.

Yeah on BIOS it is set on IDE. Is this a common problem? Or could it be the motherboard hence the MSI 6850 not working aswell.

Thanks again for help
