Hi there,

I have a dell laptop with a key on the bottom of Vista Home Premium. I have a Vista Ultimate DVD, can i use that key and it install home premium or do i have to source a home premium dvd out? Is it ok and legal to ask for a DVD COPY (on DVD R) of the home premium dvd in the members market or is that illegal?

Do people usually vLite their installation cd, or does it not give the same benefits that nlite does with xp? What sort of things do you remove if you do?

With sp1, is it getting closer to xp performance?

It's weird, the first thing i did when i got this laptop was wipe vista and put xp on, now i want to go back :s.

Thanks.

EDIT: Can someone link me to one of the Vista tweaks threads for when i have done the reinstall - i am sure there will be one but i can't find it

Also - whats the difference between Home Premium and Ultimate apart from ultimate extras?

I can answer the first bit. You'll need a Vista HP DVD to use your product key and no, you can't ask for a copy in MM.

It is possible to get a replacement DVD from Dell, so I suggest getting in contact with them.

I've just found one of the CDs bundled with the laptop and it had the following written on it: "Reinstallation DVD Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit"

I take it that's the DVD they will provide? Does it install all the Dell crap with it?
