Couple of questions...

I'm just about to install Vista a my SATA hard disk. I'm using a DS4 mobo.

Should I set the ports to ACHI mode in the BIOS as I have 2 disks but do not want them in RAID? Also, do I need to install the Intel ICH8R SATA/RAID drivers even though I'm not using RAID? Can this be done from USB stick?

You won't need to use any drivers to install. I didn't have to futz with anything when I installed Vista on a SATA disk attached to a DS3.
