Couple of questions

Hi all,

Just wondered with the recent price drops on the GTX 280 is it worth getting one or does it still not warrant an extra 70 odd quid or whatever it is over a 4870?

Also, I downloaded Folding@home because I heard about it on OC forum and have no clue what its all about lol, can anyone explain. I know google is always an option, but whats it all about?

Hi,

Well it depends what games you are playing as the HD 4870 beats the GTX280 in some games, but in others it doesn't. It's a mixed afair, but if I were you I would opt for the 4870 and save the extra cash. I have one and they are superb.

The 4870 is still the better value card imo.

Folding@home uses CPU / GPU cycles to do scientific research.
Client downloads genetic data, crunches and returns info to Stanford.
