Really thinking about one of these in the room for me and her.

How do the accounts work, do you pay for a 'live' service or is it a lot easier when it comes to setting up a couple of accounts for us both. Can those accounts be used in a 2p game on the same machine?

With the virtual machine, are the games pretty reasonably priced? Would I need an older controller for games like SMW and Zelda to work or are the peripherals that come with it ok?

For both of us to enjoy 2p games, what extras should I get that aren't in the default package.

Thanks.

Wii Online:
You don't have to have a subscription to use the service- it's free. The internet browser is 500 points and pretty pointless if you have a PC. You have one "account" tied to the Wii so you can't have one account for the missus and another for yourself.

Virtual Console:
NES - £3.50
SNES - £5.60
N64 - £7
Mega Drive - £5.60
Turbo Grafx - £4.20

There's an up to date list here http://www.avforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5528030&postcount=567

And reviews can be had here http://www.vc-reviews.com/

These are saved to the Wii's memory and you can also back them up to the SD slot HOWEVER, they're also tied to your machine so you can't take them round a mate's house.

You can use the Wii controller sideways for NES and Mega Drive games. Also, you can use a GameCube controller for any game. There is a Classic Controller that plugs into the Wii Remote- I have one of these and it's a good investment at £15.

Extras= WiiPlay comes with a controller and has some fun 1-UP and 2-UP games. An extra Nunchuck. It has WiFi built in but I bought the Datel LAN Adaptor and that works great.

Let us know if you have any more questions, Chief :)

Ok thanks. Still confused over the controller a bit.

She will want to play all the older games for sure (SNES/MD) so I need to get a controller that can do those but I don't have a Gamecube - can I get one in Game.

Get the classic controller. It works for all the virtual console games. I think you can find them for about £18 new. I paid £12.50 for one on the bay.

They're £14.99 most places, and well worth the investment. Absolute peach of controller. It's like an uber SNES pad with analogue triggers and sticks. They work in every Virtual Console - the Gamecube controller does not always work on the VC.
