After 19 years being with the family business sadly it has come to the time it has become unviable and we are going to have to close the company next year.

Quick FYI i'm 38 years old the company was mainly import/export.

Before going down this what seems a long time ago route I was very interested in IT/network support. Did a couple MCP courses/QNVQ which are obviously not worth anything now.

Sadly obviously although kept upto date with certain stuff and still the "goto" man for everyone i know with regards anything IT fallen behind with stuff.

Wondered if anyone could recommend a route/some evening courses that might help my CV to try and go back into IT.

Although i know we are not winding the company up till March next year this is already stressing me out :( . Been ALONG time since had to do interviews and worry about that i am going to actually do.

The main sectors going forward in IT these days is Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure,GPC), DevOps and Cyber Security.

First, I would decided what takes your interest in IT? Networking is heavily in Cloud as many companies are slowing moving away from on-prem networks.

Definaity do some self studying, watch some videos on Youtube and get certified. Depending on what path you take.

I guess you can perhaps tailor your CV, give yourself a relevant job title, get a good reference.

There's plenty of stuff on coursera, edx and udacity that might be useful, I don't know about the vendor certificate stuff though - AFAIK you can do some CCNA or CCNP stuff with the OU and have it count towards a degree - you don't mention if you have one?

Also if you do have one then you could try working towards a master perhaps, lots of part-time options out there.
