So my parents car was officially written off today and been told by the supplier of the courtesy car (Evans Halshaw) that we need to hand it back after 3 days of the write off being announced. But the guy said can return it Monday.
As far as I know the settlement may not being even close to being paid/settled, but I do admit that I don't really know. Either way a weekend is not really long enough to go car hunting.

Any suggestions in the scenario? Our last one I remember having the car for a week or two.
Or is it a case of as soon as the value of the write off is paid and money is cleared there is nothing that can be done? Just looking to aid the parents, apart from myself going out and buying a £500 banger.

It's quite normal for an insurance company to withdraw the courtesy car after a car is declared a write off. I remember this happening with my mother's Renault 19 when it was written off in the 90s, she had to buy a cheap runabout.

Thats what I am offering for my parents. I buy a cheap (most likely) mark 1 focus. And I keep it afterwards, as long I am happy with the car in the first place.

If it was a while back was it the Corsa C?

They had a 998cc engine as their smallest.

Any issue was solved, parents got a car over the weekend and picked it up yesterday before the hire car was due back.

I know it'll get a groan from the Vauxhall haters but it's an Astra 1.8i auto Design Estate, half leathers, sight + pack, piano black trim. Suits them fine and my dad says he feels more at home in it than the focus.. And he's enjoying the extra power of the lackluster 1.6focus estate.
