We need some more ceilings skimmed.

Do people generally take their coving down first?

I'm thinking of how clean the joining line between the coving and ceiling would be.

Cheers

if you take the coving down it will almost certainly make a mess of the walls meaning even more plastering to do, I'm assuming it is modern stuff and nothing decorative/period if it is then don't touch it! Personally I'd ask the plasterer!

We had a quick skim of the ceilings done with the coving in place. It looks OK, better than I was expecting.

I assume you've got artex swirls or something up on the ceiling at the moment? If so they'll knock all that back with a blade/scraper and then skim on top tapering in to meet the coving edge. You'll lose a bit of the edge height, but done properly it'll look decent.

Once it's dry, misted and given a couple of coats of emulsion you'll probably never be able to tell. :)
