It's myostatin that prevents extreme muscle mass, so you would want less of it, not more.![]()
They are also tasty, some of the best steaks I ever had were when I lived in Belgium - exceedingly lean, and as they have an overabundance of muscle that doesn't get used much, very tender too.
As for being in pain, not per se, but there was a problem with giving birth naturally a few years back, however, that's been bred out of them IIRC.
