I was thinking last night, which I know is a dangerous thing, about cows and I am a bit puzzled.

Firstly, does a cow have to be pregnent to produce milk? If so does that mean they are pregnent all the time?

Secondly, does a cow produce Skimmed, Semi-Skimmed or full fat milk? I think it must be Skimmed because they only eat pasture which isn't very fatning. Therefore, who adds the fat? This leads me to my next question..

Why is steak fatty?

And lastly, why do cows lay down when it going to rain and how do they know? I've tried lying down and I still can tell if it's going to rain or not!!

Wrong. They have one calf, and then produce milk. Cows, humans, all mammals produce milk for as long as it is needed, keep milking, they'll keep making more milk.

As for fat cows.....pasture varies, but put a cow on good quality rich grazing and you'll get a fat cow. My horses only need a whiff of spring grass and they balloon to the size of small bungalows.

so all the time a cow, wife or whatever is breast feeding or extracting, it will continue to produce milk?

I've had an email this morning from a member telling me how thick I am. He states that I have no self respect and he pitys my kids!

For the sake of those without sense of humour or those that don't know my true nature, it was only supposed to be a lighted hearted prank which the majority saw the funny side of.
