Hi all.

Thank you for taking the time out to read this post and maybe assist me in my upcoming purchase. I have recently upgraded my computer and would like to know what PSU I could possibly get away with. I have seen some peoples signature with 12900k and 390 running 850 watts which kinda blew my mind.

I am currently running an enermax platimax 1500 watt which I thought was a 1200 :p up until I took my old rig apart oops, this I can hold up my hands and say I over compensated when I purchsed somewhat 7 years ago or so.

Upgraded specs

i9-10980x - stock running atm, but will add a modest overclock, nothing crazy in the near future.
64 gig of ram
Asus 390 TUF gpu
Asus Xonar essense STX soundcard.
1 samsung nve ssd
3 x 2.5 inch sata SSD's
2 x WD 10,000 rpm velocraptor HDD
Custom water cooling - with 2 D5 pumps in loop and around 11 fans.

The old rig which is in my signature, has been a steady work and gaming horse. I have always been a advocate of dual graphics cards for quite some time up until probably the last 5 years or so. from 2 x 295, 2 x 590 and then the most recent 2 Maxwell Titans. (I know the burning question by most now would be, WHY? and all I can say is I just wanted to, the complexity, looking at a full aesthetic build, and seeing how far I could bench mark whenever possible was a nice past time)

Now that I have pretty much fallen off from the, I must have all the power and latest hardware bandwagon and prioritise other things in life. I.E cut down my power supply so that it can reach a better power eficiency curve that what have now for my new build.

Again thank you in advance.

Thanks both for the invaluable advice. I have been also leaning towards keeping this till it bites the dust also. There are two 8 pin outputs which are faulty but as long as I do not use it, I will be fine. Keep the monies to go towards other things. :)
