CPU @ 100%?

hi guys

when ever i go in to task man it says my cpu is running at 100%
even when my pc is just sitting there with only msn running
i have a 2.0ghz cpu and 2gb of ram so i dont know why it says this
also i scan for virus's and spy wear most days

As long as whatever is using the cpu stops using it when your using it, its not really a problem, however nothing should be using it without your knowledge.

Are you running folding or boinc by any chance?
If you are then good, make sure its folding for team 10 and leave it alone.

If you aren't, get rid of the cpu hog and install folding and fold for us.

You can use 'processes' to see what is using the cpu.

Click the link in my sig for a brief description of what folding is. I'm thinking someone, perhaps the system builder, might have installed it.

Have you checked your processes?
One of them must be using the cpu, if you can find out which one it is we can investigate it.
There will be a 'system idle process', ignore that as it uses all remaining cpu time not being used by anything else.

lol i was the system builder but my some one did fit a new mobo for me the other week i will check with them

i found it and ended it and now its stoped and now i have for got the name but i will post its name if it comes back (might do when i restart) is there any programs that show my cpu usage like in task-man? so i can have something running on my computer that i can see but that stays out the way of what i am doing??

yes taskmanager ;)

just click Options - and UNTICK the "Always On Top" check box! ;)
 
What was it?

Did it do it everytime you booted up your pc? Probably in services or startup if it is.
