Hi,

I am planning on building a new PC soon and would like some advice on the CPU to choose.

Initially I thought to go for an i7 Haswell but after searching the forum I am wondering if this maybe overkill!

I would like to build a Win7 or 8 machine for general office use and I would like

Fast boot time
Office and Photoshop use and limited video editing and CAD
twin monitor support (three would be great but not essential)

I have two machines at present an AMD Athlon 64 X" 4400+ running XP (which is really slow booting and opening programs) , The other a Core 2 Quad 8400 running Win 7 seems to be reasonably fast , which makes me wonder what benefit an i7 would make

Thanks in advance

Ian

for general office use.... intel dual core or amd dual core

Fast boot time... SSD

Office and Photoshop use and limited video editing and CAD... AMD 6 core or i5

twin monitor support (three would be great but not essential) Any AMD GFX card will do 3 monitors, or even an amd apu system

I am not an i7 fan unless your doing heavy rendering, i5 or amd 6/8core are fine

Thanks guys,

Sorry forgot budget, but I was thinking in the £650 - £750 range

Will the MSI motherboard onboard graphics support three monitors with the old type connector (I think it is the blue vga type)?

I have a new Corsair Reactor 60gb SSD . Could I use this or would it be to small for the boot drive ?

Thanks
