Hi.

Am a bit unsure. I have a Gigabyte M61PME-SP2 Motherboard with an Athlon 7850 Black Edition CPU.

The box suggests AM3 ready. By ready does this mean it will take any AM3 CPU?

For instance what would be the most powerful CPU that it could accept? Cheers,

The CPU support section of your motherboard manufacturer website will show you, it will tell you what bios you will need too.
 
Maybe I should have thought of that... I'll have a look, thanks.

Edit: Looks like this one AMD Phenom II X4 945 Bios version F4
