Was wondering if i could get a general answer to a question thats been bugging me for the last couple of days , Ive been planning to upgrade my cpu and subsequently mobo to Haswell when it was released , however as its looking like more along the lines of June with the main focus on the internal graphics im not contemplating other options .

Currrently on a i7 920 C0 i bought 4 years ago its a bad overclocker which doent really like leaving 3.2ghz before having heat and bsod issues (though my oc skill doesnt help this). Have a budget of about £400 for the cpu and motherboard as i have 2 6950's (one a dual slot cooler the other a tripple slot). Am currently looking at alternatives to Haswell , from Ivybridge 3750 - Piledriver 8350 and reccomendations and I then need a motherboard that can happily fit these cards, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yeah i am aware of that , looking like a June ish realease for Haswell and its required motherboards , main use for pc is a bit of video compression , lots of gaming and a bit of programming.
 
Sorry my initial post may of been a bit misleading , I am well aware that Haswell is not out till after June 2013, the reason for my post was after following the recent haswell revelations on its main focus (at least in my opinion) being power saving,Igfx and lower tdp which doesnt really affect me as a desktop user. So following this am tempted to upgrade now instead of 6 months as i have some funds saved up and my 920 is starting to struggle and hold back my system.

So is the 3820 a better choice than the 3750k , as paired with the gigabyte x79 UD3 it comes to about £400 which is near my upper price limit. Is it worth spending the extra money for an older cpu ? And for the use of virtual machines and gaming , which cpu would be the better buy ?

Any other feedback ? As i am hoping to order for the 8th or so. Been doing a lot of thread reading and the 1155 , 3570k seems very popular on the forum but as the roadmap shows there is no upgrade path from it , Im hoping to keep this cpu for another 3-4 years though I will probably upgrade my crossfire setup in the next 2 years.
